Condolence & Memory Journal

I met John Jones at Quinsigamond Community College. Worcester State Club Football team practiced on their athletic field. John asked a hundred questions! He was curious. He wanted to know what kind on program we were running? What were our goals? What was I all about? At that time, we were in our third year of Club Football with the goal of going to Division 3. John loved talking football! My challenge to him, was to come to Worcester State and get involved. That he did!

John brought a passion for the game, contagious energy and a depth of football knowledge that impressed me. John's mark was profound and lasting.

John joined the team, he started as offensive guard and middle linebacker and controlled those positions for four years. John dominated any position he was asked. In his four year career, he grew as a leader becoming Team Captain for two years

He brought knowledge, intensity and love of the game to the next level of dedication at Worcester State . He joined the coaching staff after graduation, He had a great football mind.. We spent hours talking Xs and Os,, coaching strategies and teaching techniques John was always a good student and willing to learn more. He was quick to ask how?' and why? He made me a better teacher, coach and man. He was a gift to me and to our club.

Opportunity took John in another direction but never away from his support of the Club. He joined the City of Worcester Health Department that began an impressive career. His leadership skills, work ethic, and dedication to purpose made him quickly rise in his department but he managed to find time to do some scouting for his team. He never slacked on his dedication and involvement. He never said no to anything I asked on behalf of his team.

We all knew John the manloved him for his commitment, loyalty and friendship.

Our thanks to you Jonesy,

Coach Jim Girouard.

My sincere condolences to Doris and the entire Jones family.
Jonesy was a salt of the earth man and always fun to be around. We used to ride around in his big old white Cadillac in high school. His list of lifelong high school friends brings back many good memories of some very good athletes and all great guys.
RIP John

My sincere sympathies to the Jones Family on Johnny”s passing. I met Johnny at the Manor one day, he knew my whole family, we became instant friends. My lady and I would look for Johnny at the Manor on Sundays to sit with him and watch the Pat’s. We moved from Worcester and we had not seen him for a few years. we really liked Johnny very much. John was just one of those people you could walk right up to with nothing to say but in 5 minutes time you had just made a friend. God rest his soul. Peace and loving memories to his family.

Jonesy was the type of guy you could go years without seeing and it didn’t matter. He was always the same gregarious, good guy who would have you laughing in minutes. Never met anyone who didn’t like Johnny Jones. John will be missed by all the friends and teammates whose lives he touched in so many ways. Taken far too soon

Such a good and decent guy- who possessed all of the qualities of what is right about “a guy from Worcester”
Though we weren’t particularly close friends- I was always happy to run into him. We worked together for many years -“just a great human being”
I will miss you “Johnny Jones.”

RIP Jonesey.
I'll never forget his calm, quiet strength and quick wit..
The only thing that surpassed Jonesey's great reputation on the athletic field, was his greater reputation as a friend.
