Chris W. Meola, A Life to Celebrate!

Chris W. Meola, 84, of W. Boylston, MA passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on Monday, December 7, 2020. Born in Worcester, MA, Chris was the son of Crescenzo "Christie" and Gladys (Dickey) Meola. Chris lived most of his life in W. Boylston and was known by neighbors and friends as ' Junie'. Chris was a good man who was proud to serve and love his family, community, and country.

Chris often told stories of his teenage years working with his brothers and cousins at Meola's Dairy, often saying he would run to work because he loved working with his family so much. Trained as an airplane mechanic, Chris worked for Boeing on the west coast.
While spending time in San Francisco, he pursued his hobby of photography and ended up working part time for an advertising firm in the Bay Area. He was proud to say he contributed to an ad campaign for Campbell's Soup. Chris was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Korea. He would happily talk of his time in Korea to anyone who would listen, reciting that one of his proudest memories was meeting President Eisenhower. Chris returned to the United States and served the rest of his duty in Detroit as a military police officer. After the service, Chris worked for Pan American Airlines at LaGuardia Airport in New York, NY. He Loved to describe the thrill of working on jet engines and airplanes for Pan Am as a mechanic with "No Restrictions." Chris kept his mechanics license in his filing cabinet in his office the rest of his Life. By the early 1960s, Chris was asked by his father to assist with the family business, West Boylston Package Store. While working at the store, Chris met his future wife, Constance. They married and settled in Princeton, MA and had four children. By the mid-1980s, Chris and his family moved back to W.Boylston, building their dream house on "Crown Hill." Dedicated to his family, Chris took pleasure in listening to his wife play piano, cutting his lawn, traveling, visiting the original town from where his grandfather emigrated, watching tennis and traveling to Queens, NY for the U.S. Open. Always a hard worker, Chris continued to enjoy working at the package store until recently. He loved following the news and politics; sharing his stories about Korea; and spending time with his nine grandchildren --watching them play baseball, soccer, piano, time at the park, and numerous dance recitals.

He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his four children; Christopher Meola and his wife Dr. Kimberly Mastis of Worcester, Julie Meola Currier and her husband Adam of Holden, Karla Meola and her husband Jeffrey Traasdahl of Reston, VA, and Lisa Meola Harris and her husband Nathan of Holden, his 9 grandchildren; Christopher, Mathew, and Caelyn Meola, Daniel, Constance, and Michael Currier; Caroline and Alexander Traasdahl, and Mason Harris, his sister, Marie (Meola) Leonard of W. Boylston, and numerous nieces and nephews. Chris is predeceased by his beloved wife of 35 years, Constance (Walz) Meola and his three brothers; Carmine, George, and Raymond Meola.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and for everyone's safety, his family has chosen to have all services held privately. Arrangements are in the care of Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston.
