George Leonard Trottier, 93, formerly of Paxton passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Crestfield Rehabilitation and Care Center, Manchester.

George was born in Webster, a son of the late George E. and Lilian (Mauke) Trottier. George was one of the many young men of the greatest generation that volunteered to serve during World War II. A member of the 23rd Infantry, George saw action during the D-Day Invasion, and later during the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded a Purple Heart, a Combat Infantryman Badge and the European, African Middle Eastern Theater Medal with five battle stars and Bronze Star. Returning to Worcester, George worked for the Norton Company for several years before beginning a career in the building trades. He worked as a civil engineer for Pre-Engineered Building Company.

George and his wife, Ethel moved to Vernon, CT in 1963, living there for many years, and then relocated to the Charleston, SC area in 1995. While there, he was active with the Silver Hair Legislators of South Carolina, and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Charleston and was a former member of St Francis Episcopal Church, Holden. He relocated to Manchester, CT in 2015.

His beloved wife of 68 years, Ethel S. (Jones) Trottier died in 2014. He leaves his three children, Paul L. Trottier and his wife, Laura of Coventry, CT, Linda Marcotte and her husband, Robert of Manchester, CT and Cheryl A. Ringo and her husband, John of Coventry, CT; seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, George was predeceased by his brother, Robert.

Family and friends are invited to gather with George's children at his graveside prayer service on December 4th at 10 a.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Military honors will be provided by the US Army. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc (, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
