Grady Jefferson, 68, passed away Friday, May 29,2020 at UMass Memorial in Worcester Mass.

He was born March 25,1952 in Tuscaloosa AL to Johnnie Mae Burroughs Jefferson and Willie Jefferson. At the age 5 Grady lost his mother and went to live with his grandmother, Frances Sumlin Burroughs and aunts, Dorothy Jefferson and Doris Richey. He graduated from Boleter High School. Grady moved to Massachusetts in 1975 with his brother, Vincent Simpson. Two years later he would meet his now wife and sweetheart for 43 years, Brenda Hughes Jefferson. Together, they had two children, Shanna Jefferson and Shane Jefferson. Grady worked for Wyman Gordan and retired from the Local Laborer's Union 243 in Auburn at the age 62.

He became a deacon in his church, and loved praising the Lord. He loved going fishing with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hughes Jefferson and two kids, Shanna and Shane Jefferson; five grandchildren, Nikyrah, Nashaya, Sahki, Jamari and Danasia; his two aunts, Dorothy Jefferson and Doris Richey; his two brothers, Vincent Simpson and Jerome Jefferson; his four sisters, Patricia Thomas, Evelyn Simpson, Cynthia Walker and Carolyn Johnson; his three sisters-in-law, Patricia Wells, Wylean Jackson and Lois Hughes; his three brothers-in-law, Tommy, Jerry and Don Hughes; as well host of nieces, nephews, family and friends he adored. Grady was predeceased by his mother, Johnnie Mae Burroughs Jefferson and his father, Willie Jefferson; his maternal grandparents, Joe Cephus Burroughs and Frances Sumlin Burroughs; his two uncles, Joe and Clyde Burroughs; an Aunt Mable Hill; a brother Nathaniel Gibson and two sisters, Dorothy Harris and JoAnne Holly, two brothers-in-law, Roger and Larry Hughes; his step mother, Fannie Jefferson and his mother and Father-in-law, Vida Haynes and Louis Hughes.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 12th from 10-12 Noon at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A graveside going home service will be held at 12:30 in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. COVID-19 social distancing rules and wearing a mask are required to be followed.
