Obituary

Worcester – Patricia A. Garvey, 64, passed away July 30, 2021, with those she loved beside her, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home.

A dedicated nurse, Pat's love for her profession was superseded only by her love for family and her faith. She leaves her sister and best friend Maryellen O'Brien and husband William of Worcester, and her sister Maureen Olesen and husband George of Andover, MA. Her sister, Kathleen Hidenfelter, wife of Ken Hidenfelter, of York, PA, passed away in January of this year. Affectionately known as the "gang of four," Pat and her sisters shared a loving bond of friendship, enjoying countless moments of conversation and laughter, as well as travels to Ireland, Maine, Maryland and South Dakota.

An adoring "auntie," Pat leaves her niece, Mary Beth Powell and husband Wayne of Andover, MA; nephew John Olesen of Andover, MA; nephew Kevin Hidenfelter and wife Mindy of Wake Forest, NC; niece Kerri Steckle and fiancé Ron Lazarus of Simi Valley, CA; nephew Keith Hidenfelter of York, PA; niece Terri O'Brien of Washington, DC, and nephew Jay O'Brien and wife Brittany of Worcester. She also leaves seven godchildren, many great nieces and nephews and her lifelong friend, Mary Herman-Cappoli. She was predeceased by her parents, Florence and Ralph Garvey, and fiancé, Gary Sudeikis.

Graduating from St. Anselm College with a BSN, Pat went on to earn her MSN at Anna Maria College. During her 35-year nursing career, she took great pride in caring for patients and families, primarily at St. Vincent Hospital, but also at Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital and UMass Memorial Health Care. A natural teacher, she relished mentoring her nursing students at Becker College.

Pat will be remembered for her mighty sense of humor and consummate flair for storytelling. She never met a dog, a pastry or a charity she didn't like. She loved the beach, especially Truro, Nantucket and Biddeford Pool, ME, sitting on her "perch" reading and spending time with friends.

The family extends their gratitude to Alexa O'Leary and Deb Michael of Jewish Healthcare HomeCare for their professional, empathic care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, August 3rd from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, August 4th at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
