Stephen A. O'Shea, 87, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 17th, surrounded by his loving family.

Stephen was born May 3, 1933, the son of Bennett and Anne O'Shea in Worcester. He graduated from St. John's High School, then earned a bachelor's degree from College of the Holy Cross and Masters of Education from Worcester State College.

Stephen worked as a teacher at Ware High School and David Prouty in Spencer for more than 35 years, serving as department head of math, facility manager of athletics and softball coach. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58 including 18 months in Germany.
He met the love of his life, Mary Robinson, on Cape Cod, married at St. John's church in the Bronx, New York, on April 23, 1960, and began to raise their family. Stephen and Mary loved to travel to Ireland, Aruba, Las Vegas and especially to CT and NJ casinos. They often spent summers on Cape Cod and Hampton Beach.

Stephen is survived by six children: Maureen Silenzi and husband David of Northboro, Christine O'Shea of Worcester, Stephen T. O'Shea and wife Linda of Auburn, Karen Corso and husband Stephen of Worcester, Eileen O'Shea and companion Kevin Manning of Oxford, Kathleen Rabbett and husband Kurt of Worcester; Ten grandchildren Kayla Corey and husband Brett, Kaitlyn and Keelia Rabbett, Molly and Megan O'Shea, Sarah, Stephen Jr. and Daniel Corso, Shaughn and Brianna DeMartino as well as three step-grandchildren Kimberly, Alicia, Caitlin; two great-grandchildren Shea and Quinn Corey; brother Rev. James B. O'Shea of Bourne; sisters-in-law Sr. Maureen Robinson OP of NY and Anne O'Shea of Monson; niece Bridget Bates, her husband Chuck and son Liam of Chicopee; his best friends Andy and Maureen Friedrich of Clinton, goddaughter Mary Kate Friedrich of Chevy Chase, MD, and the Friedrich boys and their extended family; Tracey Leblanc with companion Bruce Wilson of Millbury, as well as numerous cousins in Ireland.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Mary, daughter Anne Marie O'Shea and brother Francis O'Shea.

Stephen was an active parishioner of St. Stephen's Church in Worcester, serving as an usher, sexton, bingo caller and a member of the financial committee. At Holy Name High School, where all his children attended school, he was an avid participant of the Holy Name Parents Association serving as president, treasurer and bingo caller. He was also a dedicated member of the MTA and NEA.

The O'Shea family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals for the excellent care he has received in the last several years.

Visiting Hours are Sunday, June 21 from 3 to 6pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. COVID-19 social distancing guidelines will be in place and masks or face coverings are required. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by his brother, Rev. James B. O'Shea on Monday, June 22 at 10am in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Stephen's Restoration Fund, 16 Hamilton St., Worcester, MA 01604 or the Retired Priest Fund, Chancery Office, 49 Elm St., Worcester, MA 01609.
